National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit association that is owned and managed by its members. The organization is dedicated to the academic and professional success of African-American engineering students and professionals. NSBE offers its members leadership training, professional development, mentoring opportunities, career placement services and more. NSBE, with more than 33,000 members, is one of the largest student-governed organizations in the country. Founded in 1975, NSBE now comprises more than 450 College, Pre-College, and Technical Professional/Alumni chapters in the U.S. and abroad. NSBE’s mission is “to increase the number of culturally responsible black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community.”
The Kansas City Alumni Extension (NSBE-KC), chartered on July 30, 2002, is a professional chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers. NSBE-KC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit association represented by technical professional members throughout the Kansas City Metropolitan area. As a professional organization, we are dedicated to the development of programs to increase Black and other ethnic minority participation in the fields on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. NSBE-KC seeks to accomplish its mission and goals through professional networking, knowledge transfer, and community outreach.
